Privacy Policy
Last updated 26 October 2026
On top of Australia’s Privacy Act, Dadventures runs on its own law: the Anti Dog-Act. A dog act is doing someone over, and we won’t do one with your information. No selling it, no spamming you, no sneaky tracking and no surprises.

ANTI DOG-ACT!The Anti Dog-Act (the short version)
- You can use the map, Day-Maker and Dadvice without giving us anything. We count visits without cookies and we don’t store your IP address for that.
- If you give us your email (updates, Beer-Comrades, the Tap Manager or a waitlist), we use it to run that thing and, if you’ve said yes, to send you Dadventures news, updates and changes. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- We never sell your details or hand them to advertisers. That’d be a dog act.
- Your location stays in your browser unless you search with it, and then only the area goes to the map services that need it.
- Want to see, fix or delete what we hold on you? Email jamie@wollopit.com.au.
1. Who we are
Dadventures (dadventures.com.au) is run by Wollopit Holdings Pty Ltd (ABN 23 628 819 107), trading as Wollopit, based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean us, and “you” means anyone using Dadventures, including dads, mums, carers and the breweries, pubs and venues on the map.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and we send email in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
2. What we collect
Just browsing
- Visit counts. We count page views and a few actions (like making a day on the Day-Maker) so we know what’s useful. There’s no tracking cookie. To count unique visitors we turn your IP address and browser into a scrambled code that changes every day; the IP address itself isn’t saved. We also note which website sent you here (just the site name).
- Server logs. Like every website, our server keeps short-term technical logs (IP address, browser, the page asked for and the time) to keep the site secure and working. These are rotated and deleted automatically.
Your location
- If you tap “Set my location” or let your browser share your location, it’s saved in your browser so the map opens in the right place. We don’t keep a record of it on our server.
- If you haven’t set a location, the map asks our map provider (MapTiler) for a rough location based on your IP address, usually your city.
- To show nearby spots, weather and search results, the map area or town you’re looking at is sent to our server and to the services in section 6.
When you sign up for updates or a waitlist
- Your email address, plus anything optional you tell us (your suburb, whether you’ve got a dog, a spot you’re suggesting and any note), where you signed up, when, and that you agreed to hear from us.
Beer-Comrades
- Your email address (to log you in), your first name and the comrade name you pick.
- Your plans and check-ins (which brewery or pub and when), “Raise a pint” requests, chat messages between comrades, and any blocks or reports.
- Whether you’d like email alerts, and when we last emailed you.
Breweries, pubs and venues (the Tap Manager)
- The email address you log in with, the venue you claim and why it was approved.
- Your tap list (beer names, styles, ABV, notes, schedules) and any artwork you upload. Your tap list is meant to be public and shows on the map.
Venue details and our emails to venues
- The map is built from public information: OpenStreetMap, venues’ own websites and what venues send us. That can include a business’s name, address, phone number, website, opening hours and public business email address.
- When we email a venue, our email system records whether the email was opened and which links were clicked, so we know it arrived and don’t pester anyone.
- If a venue replies with details for the map, we update their listing with them.
Chat and email
- The chat bubble is run by our own system at wollopit.com.au. If you chat with us, we keep the conversation and any name or email you give us. While the bubble is loaded it can show us which page you’re on and roughly where you’re visiting from, so we can say hello.
- If you email us, we keep the email and our reply.
The shop
- If you order something, we collect your name, email, delivery address and order. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
We don’t ask for sensitive information (like health details), and please don’t share it, or your kids’ details, in Comrades chats or notes.
3. How we use it
- To run Dadventures: the map, Day-Maker, Beer-Comrades, the Tap Manager, the shop and the chat.
- To log you in with an email link (we don’t use passwords).
- To keep the map accurate, including updating a venue’s listing from what they send us.
- To keep everyone safe: dealing with reports, blocking people who misbehave and stopping spam and abuse.
- To send you emails (see section 4).
- To understand what’s popular and make the site better.
- To meet our legal obligations.
4. Emails we may send you
If you’ve given us your email address, we may email you about:
- Things you asked for: login links, Comrades alerts (like someone raising a pint with you), Tap Manager confirmations and order updates. These are part of the service.
- Changes: changes to Dadventures, to a feature you use, or to this policy or our terms.
- News and updates: new features, new spots on the map, new breweries, dad tips, events, the Survival Satchel and other things from Dadventures and Wollopit that we think you’ll like. Now and then that may include an offer from a brewery, venue or partner, but it’ll always come from us and we won’t give them your details.
- For venues: the Tap Manager, your listing, your tap list and ways we can help your venue.
We only send news and updates if you’ve agreed to them (for example, by signing up) or, for venues, where your business email address is published and the email is about your business. No spam, no buying lists and no passing your address on: all dog acts. Every one of these emails says who it’s from and has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing works within 5 working days, and you can also just reply “stop” or email jamie@wollopit.com.au. Emails you need to use a service (like login links) will keep coming while you use it.
5. Who can see your information
- Other comrades see your first name, comrade name and the plans or check-ins you share, plus any messages you send them. They don’t see your email address.
- Everyone can see venue listings and tap lists on the map.
- Us. Jamie and anyone helping run Dadventures, only as needed.
- Service providers who help us run the site (section 6), only for that job.
- The law. If we’re legally required to, or to protect someone’s safety.
- A new owner, if Dadventures is ever sold or merged, who’d have to look after your information the same way.
We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. Under the Anti Dog-Act that’s the biggest dog act there is.
6. Services we use (and where they are)
Some of these are overseas, so your information may be handled outside Australia. We pick reputable providers and only send them what they need.
- Our web server: hosts the site, our databases and our email system.
- MapTiler (Switzerland): map tiles, place search and rough location from your IP address.
- Photon by komoot (Germany): town and address search.
- Open-Meteo (Switzerland): weather and surf for the area you’re looking at.
- Google Fonts and the cdnjs, jsDelivr and unpkg code libraries (USA and worldwide): fonts and code the site loads, which means they see your IP address.
- Google Maps (USA): only when you tap “Get directions”, which opens Google Maps with your start and destination.
- Anthropic (USA): an AI assistant (Claude) helps us read and sort emails from venues, for example to pull opening hours out of a reply and update the map. It’s not used to make decisions about you.
- Google Drive (USA and worldwide): encrypted backups of our server.
- Stripe (Australia and USA): card payments in the shop.
- OpenStreetMap: the open map data many listings start from. We don’t send them your information.
7. Cookies and browser storage
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies (following you round the internet is a dog act). We only use these, to make things work:
- dadc: keeps you logged in to Beer-Comrades (up to 90 days).
- dadtap: keeps a venue logged in to the Tap Manager (up to 90 days).
- In your browser’s storage: the location you set, your dog setting, your shopping cart and whether you’ve used the Tap Manager before. These never leave your device unless you use them in a search.
Clearing your browser’s data removes all of it.
8. Kids
Dadventures is about days out with kids, but it’s for grown-ups. Beer-Comrades and the Tap Manager are only for people 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us their details, email jamie@wollopit.com.au and we’ll delete them.
9. How long we keep it
- Email sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We may keep a note of your unsubscribe so we don’t email you again.
- Comrades and Tap Manager accounts: while you use them. Ask and we’ll delete your account, your plans and your messages. Reports about someone’s behaviour may be kept longer to keep others safe.
- Login links run out after 30 minutes. Logins last up to 90 days.
- Visit counts are kept as totals; the daily scrambled codes can’t be traced back to you.
- Orders: as long as the tax law says (usually 5 years).
10. Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS. Data sits outside the public part of our server, logins use one-time links instead of passwords, and backups are encrypted. No system is perfect, though. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.
11. Your choices
- See or fix your information: email jamie@wollopit.com.au and we’ll send you what we hold or correct it, usually within 30 days.
- Delete it: same email. We’ll delete it unless the law says we have to keep something.
- Stop emails: use the unsubscribe link or email us.
- Go quiet on Comrades: switch Comrade Mode off or turn off email alerts any time.
- Stay anonymous: you can browse the map and the Day-Maker without telling us who you are.
12. Complaints
Reckon we’ve done a dog act? If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, email jamie@wollopit.com.au and tell us what happened. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re still not happy, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
13. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy as Dadventures grows, but no sneaky changes: that’s a dog act too. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make a big change to how we use your information, we’ll put a notice on the site and, if we have your email address, email you about it.
